Les 9 et 10 juillet dernier, HOALEN, en partenariat avec l‘Ecole de surf & Surfshop TWENTY NINE - ESB LA TORCHE & JEEP, a organisé la 3ème édition du Festival « Les Pieds sur le Nez », week-end dédié au surf classique et à sa culture.

On 9 and 10 July, HOALEN, in partnership with the TWENTY NINE – ESB LA TORCHE surf school and shop & JEEP, put on the third “Les Pieds sur le Nez” Festival, a weekend dedicated to classic surf and surf culture.

Une soixantaine de participants répartis dans trois catégories, ont revisité les figures classiques du surf original en longboard, et en single fin (planche dotée d’un seul aileron). 

Some sixty participants, split into three categories, put a new spin on classic manoeuvres on longboards and single fins. 

Nouveauté cette année, Hoalen & Twenty Nine ont souhaité mettre à l'honneur les femmes en créant leur propre compétition en longboard.

For the first time this year, Hoalen & Twenty Nine decided to put the spotlight on women by creating longboard contest just for them.

After a bright sunny day with waves never rising over a metre, the men’s and women’s longboards and mixed singles battled it out to show their control, creativity and flow to get qualified in their respective category.

Au terme d'une première journée ensoleillée dans des vagues ne dépassant pas le mètre, les longboards  hommes, longboards femmes & singles mixtes ont rivalisé de maîtrise, de créativité et d’adresse pour venir décrocher leur qualification dans leur catégorie respective.

Sur chaque session de 20 minutes, 4 à 6 surfeurs doivent venir décrocher non pas un score mais une gratification, leur performance étant jugée plus sur des critères d’esthétique et de style que sur des critères techniques.

For each 20-minute heat, four to six surfers attempted to get not a score but bonus points on their performances, for which aesthetic quality and style counted more than technical criteria.

Le dimanche, les demi-finales & finales se sont déroulées sous un ciel menaçant, une houle imposante et un vent d'ouest plus fort que prévu.

On Sunday, the semi-finals and finals took place under a threatening sky, with big waves and stronger-than-expected westerly winds.

Des conditions solides qui ont éprouvé les hommes et les femmes qui ont su montrer leur engagement et leur savoir-faire dans des conditions difficiles, bravo à eux.

The conditions were perfect for putting the men and women to the test, who expertly showed off their commitment and skills under difficult conditions.

Une pensée toute particulière pour Florence Moris qui s'est blessée durant la finale longboard femme. Nous lui souhaitons un bon retablissement et un retour rapide dans les vagues de La Torche.

A special note goes out to Florence Moris, who was injured during the women’s longboard final. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her soon riding the waves at La Torche.
